The governor of Abia state, Alex Otti, has reacted to plans by some of his predecessors, Senators Orji Uzor Kalu and Senator T.A Orji, to sue him for operating from his private residence in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA.
LIB had earlier reported that sources familiar with the discussions say the proposed suit is being considered within the context of broader political realignments ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Abia State. No formal court filing has been confirmed as of the time of this report. Read here.
Reacting to the plan, Gov Otti while speaking to newsmen, said
‘’Ordinarily I have refused to respond to that. The only response I gave to it was that it was noise and still believe it was noise. That someone wants to sue me from not operating from his house in Umuahia. My lawyers are prepared. I have looked at the constitution. I didn’t find where there is a provision that I must live somewhere. I know that Abia people are not interested in where I live. They are interested in the work I do. The state in which they left the government house was not such that I could have lived there”
He said reconstruction work is ongoing at both the government house and the governor’s lodge
