Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly apologized to Qatar for the recent Doha strike while he was at the White House on Monday, September .
The apology was made during a phone call to the Qatari prime minister from the White House.
Netanyahu reportedly did not apologize for targeting Hamas but specifically for violating Qatar’s sovereignty by carrying out the strike. The prime minister also apologized for the death of a Qatari security guard, a civilian killed in the targeted building.
According to the Israeli source, the apology was part of a broader deal to secure Qatar’s assistance in pressuring Hamas to accept the Trump administration’s 21-point proposal for a ceasefire.
The leaders of Israel and Qatar are not known to have formally met or spoken directly until this call, which happened while Netanyahu was in Washington to meet with US President Donald Trump regarding the US-backed peace plan.
Qatar is a critical mediator in the ongoing ceasefire discussions, maintaining communication channels with Hamas, Israel, and the US.
