
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Zamfara State House of Assembly by-election for Kaura-Namoda South Constituency inconclusive.
Results announced at the Kasuwar Daji Collation Centre on Saturday, August 16, 2025, showed the All Progressives Congress (APC) leading with 6,999 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 5,339 votes, a margin of 1,660 votes.
A breakdown of results from the six wards revealed APC’s dominance in four wards, while PDP won in two. In Kagara Ward, APC polled 783 votes against PDP’s 682, while in Saka Jiki Ward, APC secured 1,021 to PDP’s 359. Banga Ward saw PDP in the lead with 1,466 votes to APC’s 1,163. In Kyanbarawa Ward, APC polled 1,162 compared to PDP’s 660. PDP again led in Kurya Ward with 1,580 votes against APC’s 983, while in Dan Isah Ward, APC garnered 1,887 votes to PDP’s 592.
Despite APC’s advantage, INEC declared the election inconclusive, citing the need for supplementary polls in three polling units of Kyanbarawa Ward and two in Saka Jiki Ward.
The commission said a new date would be announced for the rerun to determine the final outcome.
