In Islam, your wife is not required to cook or contribute financially. Anything she does is kindness not duty - Nigerian Muslim woman says

A Nigerian woman, Nafisat Ibrahim has stated that a wife is not required to cook for her husband or contribute financially to the marriage.

According to Nafisat, a woman’s money solely belongs to her and anything she does for the family is kindness not duty.

“In Islam your wife is not required to financially contribute. Not to rent, bills and groceries. Her money is hers alone. Assalamu’alaikum,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Monday, January 5.

“In Islam a woman is not required to cook. There is no obligation in Islam for a woman to prepare meals. Anything she does is kindness not duty,” she stated earlier.

Reacting to her post, one Kasim Yusuf, said that in Islam, a married woman under her husband’s care and protection is not even allowed to do anything to make money, unless with his permission.

“I believe by this, you know that, a married woman won’t even have that almighty “her own money” you people make noise about, if the husband doesn’t permit,” he added.
