What Were The Initial Allegations Against Andrew Ochekwo
Andrew Ochekwo, a self-styled businessman, was initially accused of being involved in the disappearance of two friends, Celine Ndudim and Afiba Tandoh. The two ladies, a Nigerian and a Ghanaian respectively, went missing after visiting Ochekwo in Aba, Abia State, where they had met him through Facebook. The disappearance of the ladies sparked a series of investigations and controversies surrounding Ochekwo’s involvement in their disappearance and potential murder.
The initial allegations against Ochekwo were that he had lured the two ladies to his residence in Aba, Abia State, with a sum of N1 million. The ladies, who were from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, had left their base to visit Ochekwo for the weekend on the condition of paying the said sum. Since their disappearance on April 27, their whereabouts have been unknown, and Ochekwo was arrested by police officers attached to the Abia police command.
Ochekwo was initially detained for the possession of the missing ladies’ belongings and remained silent about their whereabouts. He was later transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Aba, then to Umuahia, and finally to Abuja following a petition to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) requesting his transfer to Abuja. During his detention, Ochekwo allegedly functioned freely, which raised suspicions about his involvement in the disappearance of the ladies.
The case drew significant public attention, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation into all parties involved, including the police in Abia State. The Nigeria Police Force assured that the case would be handled with utmost professionalism and integrity, urging the public to remain calm and allow the investigation process to proceed without interference.
