Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein desperately searching old movie contracts in jail for money he’s owed as legal fees reach ‘tens of millions’

Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein desperately searching old movie contracts in jail for money he?s owed as legal fees reach ?tens of millions?

Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood producer, is facing tens of millions in legal bills while pursuing claims for unpaid earnings from past projects, including the Broadway musical “Finding Neverland.” According to sources, Weinstein has been reviewing his old movie and theater contracts from jail in an effort to determine whether he is owed additional funds.

This month, Weinstein filed a lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court, alleging that he is owed $2.3 million by his former partners, NETworks Presentations and National Artists Management Company, in connection with the 2015 musical adaptation of the Weinstein Company film. Court filings indicate that Weinstein was contractually entitled to $5,750 per week for his work on the show, along with a 27.5% share of net profits under an agreement that was never finalized. He claims his co-producers retained unauthorized payments estimated at $4.6 million, which he says entitles him to $2.3 million.

A source told reporters, “Weinstein has racked up tens of millions of legal bills… so he could use the money.” The former mogul met with his attorney, Robert J. Hantman, to discuss the suit. “While I have been in jail, I have had time to go over my old deals and realized that the co-producers owe me this money,” Weinstein reportedly said.

The “Finding Neverland” musical, which ran for 17 months on Broadway and toured nationally, was based on the 2004 Weinstein Company film about the creator of “Peter Pan,” starring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. Weinstein alleges he retains half ownership of the show. Representatives for the co-producers did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Weinstein is currently facing his third retrial in New York City on a third-degree r@pe charge stemming from 2013. He has previously been convicted of a criminal s3x act against one woman in New York, found not guilty on another charge, and is appealing a 2022 s3xual assault conviction in Los Angeles, where he was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Weinstein has consistently denied the allegations.

Despite his legal and financial troubles, Weinstein continues to pursue claims related to his past business dealings, highlighting the ongoing fallout from his high-profile convictions and the financial strain caused by his multiple legal battles.
