Know about ‘HaLeigh Cummings Father Ronald Cummings Arrested on Christmas Day’ The father of a 5-year-old Florida child who went missing in 2009 was arrested on various charges on Sunday and is due in court on Monday.
Ronald Cummings was never a suspect in HaLeigh Cummings’ disappearance in February 2009 because he was at work that night. He was released in October after serving more than a decade in prison on drug trafficking charges after the girl went missing.
Misty Croslin, Ronald Cummings’s then-girlfriend, was babysitting HaLeigh the night she vanished and was apparently the last person to see her. Croslin was arrested in 2010 on cocaine trafficking allegations and is scheduled to be released in 2031.
Croslin told detectives that while other individuals were present at the residence the night the girl vanished from her bed, she was alone with HaLeigh and her brother when she went to bed at around 10 p.m. She claimed HaLeigh was sleeping on a mattress on the floor in the same room, and when she awoke to use the restroom, the girl was gone and the rear door was open.
Police stated from the start that Croslin’s and other witnesses’ testimonies were conflicting.
Investigators Report
For months, investigators investigated the region and questioned numerous people. More than a year later, authorities claimed HaLeigh was most likely dead and that the case was being investigated as a homicide. Investigators suspect the girl’s death was caused by an accidental overdose and that her body was dumped in the nearby St. Johns River.
During the inquiry, authorities discovered that Cummings and Croslin were involved in a drug and violence world, and a year after HaLeigh’s disappearance, they and several other persons were arrested on drug trafficking charges. Cummings pleaded guilty and was sentenced to prison until his release in October.
Ronald Cummings was arrested on Sunday on accusations of resisting an officer with violence, battery on an officer, firefighter, or EMT, trafficking at least seven grams of Oxycodone, obstruction, and possession of a controlled narcotic without a prescription, according to WJXT.
According to jail records, he is being held without bond at the Putnam County Jail.
