Gunmen have k!lled a 35-year-old man, Sufiyanu Garba, and abducted his wife during an attack in Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, March 13, 2026.
The spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday explained that detectives promptly visited the scene and began necessary investigations immediately after the report.
According to him, the victim was rushed to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital where he was confirmed d3ad by a medical doctor, while his remains were deposited at the hospital morgue.
“The Kebbi State Police Command expresses concern over an unfortunate incident that occurred in the early hours of today, 13th March 2026, in Badariya Area, Birnin Kebbi, which resulted in the d3ath of Sufiyanu Garba, aged 35, and the abduction of his wife,” the statement read.
“Detectives promptly visited the scene and commenced necessary investigations. It was observed that a police checkpoint is situated not far away from the scene of the incident, which could have been informed for rapid response.
“The victim was taken to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, where he was confirmed d3ad by a medical doctor.
“His remains have since been deposited at the hospital morgue.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure a thorough and diligent investigation aimed at rescuing the abducted victim and bringing those responsible to justice.
“The Command also reassures residents that necessary steps are being taken to further strengthen the security architecture across the State.
