The Rivers State Police Command has commenced investigation into the gruesome m#rder of an event usher identified as Special Bensingti, that occurred in Port Harcourt, the state capital on March 1.
According to the police, a certain Divine Anyanwu of No. 9 Aliobi Drive, Elimg alt=”Gunmen k!ll female usher in Rivers” class=”img-responsive text-center” style=”margin: auto;”bu, Port Harcourt, visited the Abuloma Police Division on 19th March 2026 at about 7:00 PM, and reported that she and her friend Special Bensington boarded a Bolt ride from a hotel located on Emmanuel Road, off Odili Road, Port Harcourt. Anyanu told the police that while en route along the Total Gospel area, off Odili Road, they were attacked by unknown armed hoodlums suspected to have trailed them from the hotel. She said that the assailants, who were in a tricycle, opened fire on the victims. In the course of the attack, the said victim sustained gunshot injuries.
The police said the victim was immediately rushed to BMH Hospital, Port Harcourt, where she was later confirmed ded by a medical doctor on duty, on 21st March 2026 while receiving treatment.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Abuloma Division, alongside his team, visited both the scene of the incident and the hospital. The deceased has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
Confirming the attack to newsmen, the spokesperson of the command, SP Grace Iringi-Koku, said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet forensic investigation. he mentioned that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
