Channel 4 has announced a significant change to the iconic theme tune of “Gogglebox,” marking the first time in 11 years that the show’s signature music has been altered. The much-loved reality TV show, which first aired in March 2013, has been accompanied by the track “Perfect World” by Kodaline since its inception. This theme tune has become instantly recognizable to viewers, playing over the opening titles of each episode on Friday nights at 9pm. However, this evening, viewers will experience a slight remix of the theme tune, featuring a classical twist. This change is temporary and will only be heard in tonight’s episode.

The decision to alter the theme tune is part of a broader celebration of the second series of “The Piano,” which begins on Channel 4 on Sunday, April 28th, at 9pm. The series features renowned pianist Lang Lang and pop star Mika as judges, inviting gifted amateur pianists to perform live across the UK. In addition to “Gogglebox,” other popular Channel 4 shows will also see changes to their theme songs to coincide with the launch of “The Piano.” These include “Channel 4 News,” “Countdown,” and “Come Dine With Me: The Professionals,” with each show’s theme tune being rearranged and performed on piano.

The theme tune of “Gogglebox” will be heard in a new arrangement for the first time, featuring a piano medley. This special arrangement is a result of Kodaline frontman Steve Garrigan rearranging the hit song “Perfect World.” The change is part of Channel 4’s effort to spread “musical magic” by replacing the theme tunes of some of their best-loved shows with specially recorded piano versions. This initiative is a testament to the network’s commitment to celebrating the return of “The Piano” and acknowledging the talent and creativity of its composers and performers.
