FCT police commissioner speaks on Arise TV anchor, Sommie Maduagwu?s demise

The Commissioner for Police in the Federal Capital Territory, CP Ajao Adewale, has confirmed reports that AriseTV reporter, Sommie Maduagwu, jumped from her 3rd floor apartment during the robbery incident at her apartment located in the Katampe area of the FCT on Monday, September 29.

In an interview with Arise TV this morning, Adewale while speaking on the tragic incident, said

‘’Regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident and to set the records straight, some armed robbers gained access into Unique apartment where Sommie lives, a twin three-storey 18-flat apartment around Katampe under Mabuchi divisional area.

Two guards, security men were on duty and one of them who had the courage to challenge sustained a gun shot. Under this condition and the panic that would have resulted under this kind of environment, Sommie actually occupied an apartment  on the topmost floor of the building and out of fear, she jumped down from the 3rd floor. The consequences is what we are seeing.

Alas, a distress call was made to the command’s control room. Policemen moved to the scene. What they could see was the unconscious body of Sommie on the floor. They picked her and took her to Maitama General hospital where the doctor on duty tried as much as possible to see whether they could resuscitate her using the CPR.

It is unfortunate. She couldn’t make it and that is the story”

He said an investigation team has been set up to fish out the assailants to ensure they are brought to justice.
