Newsypeople – In a deeply unsettling incident that has sent ripples of fear through the local community, a group of herdsmen in Borno State, Nigeria, has been accused of brutally attacking a farmer, leaving him gravely injured after severing his hands.

The horrifying event took place while the farmer was tending to his land, where he encountered the herdsmen, leading to a confrontation that quickly escalated.

Despite the farmer’s attempts to defuse the situation peacefully, the herdsmen refused to back down, and one of them launched a violent assault, inflicting severe injuries on the farmer. The victim was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where he received urgent medical care.

This attack has ignited widespread outrage among local residents and heightened existing concerns over the persistent tensions between farmers and herdsmen in the region.

In response, authorities have begun a thorough investigation into the attack, actively searching for the individuals responsible.

This tragic event is only the latest in a troubling pattern of violence that has plagued Borno State in recent years. In a separate, equally harrowing incident, Boko Haram militants reportedly beheaded seven farmers in the Molai area, which is just a few kilometers from the state capital, Maiduguri. The farmers, who were simply going about their work in the fields, fell victim to this brutal act of terror.

These killings have intensified fears among the local farming community, who now worry even more about their safety as they try to earn a living.

The Borno State government has made efforts to support these farmers, launching a significant return-to-farm program that provided around 300 tractors. However, the persistent threat of insurgency and violence has made it increasingly difficult for them to work without living in constant fear.
