Ex-Olympic Boxer Planned To Shoot Up Gym: A semiautomatic rifle was allegedly planned to be used to open fire inside a gym after a former boxer who won Golden Gloves and Olympic medals had his membership suspended.
The 39-year-old Azea Augustama allegedly did more than just complain online. According to NBC Miami and CNN, the police claimed he paid a $150 down payment on an AK-47 at a pawn shop.
All of this began when Miami, Florida’s BOXR Gym expelled Augustama. He allegedly got into a fight with staff.
His membership was terminated, and he was issued a trespass warning, they claimed. He allegedly called the police on Tuesday to arrange for an escort there so he could retrieve his personal property.
According to company owner Mateo Attalla, “He was taken in with cops to fetch items and, of course, belongings weren’t there.”
Social media supposedly showed warning signs. Augustama is charged with writing ominous statements on Instagram. For instance, according to authorities, he posted a photo of the Parkland high school mass shooter with the statement “I was thinking about killing many people at the gym.”
According to authorities, he claimed to be “ready to shoot with a real gun or bazooka for justice’s sake.”
According to authorities, Augustama emailed a witness a picture of a target along with the message. “He’s first when I get my gun or with anything else first (RIP)”.
He is accused of putting his real money where his mouth was by making a $150 deposit on an AK-47 at a pawn shop in Opa-Locka. However, he was apparently informed that there was a seven-day waiting time.
According to the police, pawn shop surveillance video showed him holding the gun. Authorities claimed to have arrested him there. A $3 million bail was apparently used to hold him. Ex-Olympic Boxer Planned To Shoot Up Gym so Attalla gave the police kudos for the quick action.
