Bandits have raided four villages in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, k!lling eight persons and leaving 11 others with varying degrees of injuries.

The assailants, who attacked Baraje, Kirijan, Shugu, Kauran Pawa and Unguwar Jika around midnight, also abducted one person and vandalised houses and business premises.

While the Public Relations Officer of the state police command could not be reached for confirmation of the incident, multiple sources from the affected communities confirmed the attack to journalists.

A resident of Baraje, Malam Nura, who spoke with Nigerian Tribune narrated that the attackers arrived in the village at about midnight, flashing torchlights and firing random shots into people’s houses.

He explained that the remains of the deceased had been buried, while the injured were receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Funtua.

Residents lamented that the attacks breached the peace treaty entered into last year between the bandits and the communities, with both parties pledging to act in ways that would promote peace.T
