Former Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard has said Kylian Mbappe must win major trophies with the club and perform strongly on the international stage to claim the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
According to Hazard, Mbappe needs to lift the UEFA Champions League, win the Spanish LaLiga title, and go deep with the France national team at the World Cup to stand a strong chance of securing the prestigious individual award.
Hazard also expressed confidence that the French star will eventually win the Ballon d’Or, even if he misses out this year.
“Mbappé and the Ballon d’Or? He will win the Ballon d’Or,” Hazard said. “He needs to win the Champions League, LaLiga, or go far in the World Cup. But he will win a Ballon d’Or at some point, of course.”
Mbappe is yet to win the Ballon d’Or despite multiple nominations in previous years. However, he has been in impressive form since joining Real Madrid and is considered one of the top contenders for the award this season.
The France international has scored 30 goals across all competitions for Los Blancos so far this campaign.
