Drake has stirred up conversation again after fans noticed what looked like a subtle dig at his ex, tennis legend Serena Williams, on Instagram.
The rapper shared new photos on Monday featuring himself and rapper Sexyy Red in a tennis-themed shoot, captioning it:
“I said tennis lesson she said where’s the bracelet or the necklace.”
But it was his activity in the comments that caught everyone’s attention. Fans quickly noticed Drake had liked a comment suggesting Serena had “upgraded,” sparking fresh debate about their long, complicated history, Daily Maill reported.
This isn’t the first time both stars have thrown quiet jabs at each other. Earlier this year, Serena made headlines when she appeared during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance of Not Like Us — a song widely recognised as part of Lamar’s feud with Drake. Her appearance set social media buzzing, especially after she confirmed it by posting a photo in the same outfit she wore onstage.
Serena also hosted the 2024 ESPYS, where she joked about Kendrick’s lyrical dominance, saying no one — “not even me” — should pick a fight with him. She added that the next time Drake sits courtside at a Raptors game, the crowd might humorously respond with, “Seat’s taken.”
Shortly after the Super Bowl moment, Drake shared a throwback photo of himself with Serena’s former agent, Jill Smoller — a move many interpreted as another subtle response.
Drake and Serena were romantically linked between 2011 and 2015, and although neither has openly reignited any public conflict, fans have continued to track their quiet back-and-forths over the years.
