A video showing the tense exchange between a dispatch rider and a Nigerian police officer at a checkpoint during an inspection in Ororokpe, Delta state, has made the rounds on social media.
The dispatch rider was heading to deliver a food package when the officers stopped him and asked him to open the food package for inspection.
In the clip, the rider was seen recording the interaction on his phone while the officer examined a food delivery box. The rider questioned why the officer objected to being filmed, stating that he is delivering food to a customer and wanted to document the inspection as evidence.
The officer was seen attempting to avoid the camera and repeatedly asked the rider to stop recording. The situation escalated into a brief verbal exchange, with the rider continuing to question the officer’s actions.
The video has sparked a debate online with some Nigerians asking if the police has a right to inspect a food package.
