FCT’s minister, Nyesom Wike, has chastised former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi for joining the opposition coalition in an attempt to depose President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
On Thursday, July 3, Amaechi, a former presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated his desire to run again on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the top position in Aso Rock. He also stated that he would be content to serve a four-year term if elected.
Amaechi alleged that former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has outperformed the incumbent’s accomplishments to date and that Tinubu has mismanaged the economy.
In response to Amaechi’s statement, Wike challenged the ex-minister and his friends in the ADC coalition to “show their scorecards”. According to Wike, Amaechi is angry that he is no longer in power and is scheming to come back into office.
“Because you have left office, you are angry. You said Nigerians are angry. You want to come back to power; you won’t come back.
You never made angry Nigerians happy, but Tinubu stayed in office for six months and you started saying Nigerians are angry,” Wike said, whilst boasting that he defeated Amaechi’s party in the last two presidential elections in Rivers State.
They said the coalition has started…When will you stop deceiving Nigerians? Somebody came into office six months then you started the coalition, but you had the opportunity to be Minister of Transportation for eight years. What did you do?” he asked
