Premier League club, Chelsea have won the first edition of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup after a commanding 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday night.
The Blues, who were the underdogs to win in regulation, only needed just 43 minutes to take total control of the game ahead of PSG.
England playmaker, Cole Palmer was the star of the show after scoring a brace in the first 27 minutes of the game to put his club firmly in control.
Adding more damage to the scoreline, new Chelsea signing Joao Pedro—who joined mid-tournament from Brighton, scored the third goal in the 42nd minute, sealing a dominant victory for the Blues.
In the second period, Chelsea goalie Robert Sanchez displayed his quality with two brilliant saves to keep Paris Saint-Germain at bay.
To add to PSG’s misery Joao Neves was sent off for pulling Cucurella’s hair late on in the second half.
