The murderer of a 37-year-old Joshua Mitchell Paulding County parent earlier this month is being sought by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident reportedly took place on December 17 in front of a house in Douglasville off Warrenton Drive, according to 11Alive News. Joshua Mitchell, 37, was shot and killed in his own driveway; despite multiple complaints to the police from concerned neighbors, the shooter has not yet been apprehended.
The family of Mitchell honors him as the search goes on. His wife, Nicoele Mitchell, characterized him as a respectable and kind husband and father who cared deeply for his three stepdaughters. His youngest stepdaughter, who is 7 years old, wrote Santa a letter asking him to bring Mitchell home for Christmas.
“When we lost Daddy” will always be a topic of conversation because it occurred before Christmas, said Nicoele. “I do well in school and get good scores. Could I please have my dad back?” she pleaded.
Mitchell, according to Nicoele, was a businessman and a “honorable Marine.”
She continued, “I’m grateful we got to say those words to one other that morning before he departed for work. “So that kiss and I love you will be in my mind forever.”
Meanwhile, the hunt for the murderer continues.
The GBI stated that there is currently no information to determine a motive and no description of the culprit.
