Boy band group Backstreet Boys challenge fellow boy band group NSYNC to golf match

A showdown between iconic boy bands the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC might be on the horizon but not on a concert stage. Instead, the challenge has been laid down on the golf course.

Backstreet Boys members Nick Carter and Brian Littrell revealed to TMZ Sports that they want to face off with *NSYNC in a five-on-five golf tournament. The pop stars issued the playful challenge during a round at California’s famed Pebble Beach, taking a break from their current tour at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

“You hear it first on TMZ,” Littrell said. “It’s going to be ‘Boy Band Mania Golf Tournament!’” Carter jumped in to add, “We’re challenging *NSYNC right now to a five-on-five!”

While it’s unclear how every bandmate measures up on the green, a potential faceoff between Brian Littrell and Justin Timberlake could be the highlight. Littrell revealed he has a 6.8 golf handicap, while Timberlake is known to be an avid and skilled golfer with a similar handicap.

Nick Carter, meanwhile, admitted he’s playing at a 19 handicap, but expressed full confidence in taking part nonetheless.

Regardless of the outcome on the golf course, the Backstreet Boys are continuing to make waves in their musical careers. Their Las Vegas residency has drawn sold-out crowds, and their recent performances even caught the attention of NBA star Luka Dončić, who attended a show to celebrate his new contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.

As both groups enjoy renewed public interest and nostalgia-fueled popularity, fans will now be watching to see if *NSYNC takes the bait and tees up for a boy band golf battle of the century.
