Beauty Goddess apologizes after backlash over Priscilla and Juma

Nigerian-Ghanaian influencer Beauty Goddess, also known as John Merry, has issued a public apology following a wave of criticism over a recent video she posted regarding her absence at the highly anticipated wedding of Priscilla Ojo and Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.

In the video, which went viral last Saturday, Beauty Goddess explained that she had already committed to attending another event before receiving the invitation to the wedding. She added that her flight was already booked and casually referred to the wedding as the “JP whatever.”

Her comment, particularly the phrase “the moment you people understand that, if we are following ourselves doesn’t mean we are friends,” was perceived by fans and followers as dismissive, especially considering her close relationships with some of the wedding guests.

The wedding, held in Lagos, was one of the season’s most talked-about celebrity events, which only intensified the reaction to Beauty Goddess’ comments.

In response to the backlash, Beauty Goddess took to her Instagram story today, April 22, to offer a heartfelt apology. She acknowledged her mistake, saying, “The way I said it was messy, and I own that. I wasn’t thinking about how it would sound, and I definitely didn’t mean it in a shady or unserious way.”

She went on to admit that she is still learning and growing, and promised to be more mindful in the future. Fans have expressed mixed reactions to the apology, with some accepting it and others still feeling unsettled by her initial remarks.
