
A four-man armed robbery gang attacked a elderly businessman identified as Sale and robbed him of an unspecified amount of money in Minna, Niger State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 8, 2025, at Tunga Market.
The victim said that he had a business deal on Sunday at NNPC, near the city gate in Minna, and had collected his money from the station that morning with the intention of depositing it into a bank.
An eyewitness from the scene of the attack told newsmen that the four robbers blocked the victim’s vehicle with their Corolla car near the congested Tunga market, opened his vehicle’s back seat and boot, and stole the valuables before zooming off towards David Mark Road, Minna, to an unknown destination.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident.
“Today 8th September, 2025 at about 8.45am, report received indicated that there was a robbery around Tunga Market, Minna where a Toyota Camry vehicle, ash in colour with four men crossed and blocked a Mercedes vehicle,” he stated.
The PRO stated that the victim in the Mercedes vehicle was allegedly robbed of a yet to be ascertained sum of money, when coming from the old city gate area.
However, he disclosed that all Police patrol teams and Divisions were immediately alerted for quick intervention, immediate possible recovery and arrest of the suspected armed robbers.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed Area Commander Minna and DPO Tudun-Wada Division to quickly swing into action and ensure a forensic investigation with a view to arrest the culprits, while the victim is advised to officially report the incident in the nearest Police station,” Abiodun added
