The car was moving quickly when it veered off the road and struck a house, according to Los Angeles Police Public Information Officer Jeff Lee, who spoke to CNN on Friday.
Heche was taken in serious condition by paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department to a neighboring hospital.
Firefighters had to “access, restrict, and completely extinguish the persistent fires within the highly damaged structure” for more than an hour, according to the authorities.
