Actress Folake Olowofoyeku opens up about facing colorism in Nigeria, says she wasn

Actress Folake Olowofoyeku opened up about her experience growing up in Nigeria. 

The Bob Hearts Abishola star said colorism played a role in how beauty was defined in Nigeria as light skinned girls were seen as more beautiful. 

She added that she wasn’t consistently called “beautiful” until she moved to the United States. 

During the discussion, comedian Godfrey added cultural context, claiming some Nigerians even pinch babies’ noses in hopes they’ll grow up with narrower features like the Caucasians.
