Hollywood actor, Shia LaBeouf and his former girlfriend, FKA Twigs, have reached an out-of-court settlement in the high-profile lawsuit she filed against him in 2020.
Attorneys for both parties confirmed the development, saying in a joint statement: “Committed to forging a constructive path forward, we have agreed to settle our case out of court. While the details of the settlement will remain private, we wish each other personal happiness, professional success and peace in the future.”
New legal documents also show that FKA Twigs has asked the court to dismiss all claims against LaBeouf without prejudice, legally preventing her from refiling the case in the future.
FKA Twigs originally filed the lawsuit in December 2020, accusing LaBeouf of physical abuse, emotional torment, and knowingly transmitting a s3xually transmitted infection during their relationship.
She later spoke publicly about the allegations, including in an interview with Gayle King and a feature in Elle magazine, where she described surviving the relationship as “a miracle.”
In response to the initial lawsuit, LaBeouf told The New York Times: “Although many of these allegations are not true. I am not in the position to defend any of my actions. I owe these women the opportunity to air their statements publicly and accept accountability for those things I have done. As someone in recovery, I have to face almost daily reminders of things I did say and do when I was drinking.”
