French actress, model, and singer Brigitte Bardot has reportedly been hospitalised in Toulon amid what French media describe as a “serious illness.”
The 91-year-old former s3x symbol of the 1950s and 1960s has been in hospital for the past three weeks, according to French outlet Var-Matin, which also reported that she underwent surgery related to her condition. Sources close to the star told the publication that her health remains “worrying.”
However, there was a note of optimism, with Var-Matin adding that Bardot is expected to be discharged from the hospital in the coming days. She lives nearby in Saint-Tropez, where she has spent much of her later life.
TMZ reported that Bardot’s representatives at the Brigitte Bardot Foundation have not yet commented on her condition.
The legendary actress, known for her roles in films such as And God Created Woman and Contempt, has largely stayed out of the public eye since retiring from acting in the 1970s to focus on animal rights activism.
Bardot was previously treated for breathing difficulties in 2023, when her husband Bernard d’Ormale told Var-Matin that paramedics had given her oxygen at home but decided she did not need to be hospitalised at that time.
Now 91, Bardot continues to live a quiet life on the French Riviera with her husband, decades after she became one of cinema’s most enduring icons.
