Abuja CP orders arrest of woman accused of abusing and burning her maid (video)

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, Adewale Ajao, has ordered the arrest of a woman accused of subjecting a 14-year-old girl to physical abuse and starvation in Abuja.

This comes after a troubling video went viral, showing the girl, identified as Bashariya, narrating her ordeal in Hausa.

Bashariya, originally from Zamfara State, said she was taken to Abuja after her parents fled their hometown due to bandit attacks and took refuge in an Internally Displaced Persons camp in the Gwiwa Eka area.

Bashariya said she was hired as a maid and taken to Abuja with the promise that she would get a better life there.

However, she claims she was starved, beaten, and even burnt by her guardian.

The video shared online showed burn marks and old and new bruises all over her body.
