Know about ’49-year-old Ronald J Miller Caught By South Carolina Officers’ This could be one of the longest pursuits ever performed by county sheriff’s deputies.
Officers stopped a driver in North Augusta, South Carolina, at about 8 a.m. Sunday. When one of them asked for his driver’s license, he pulled out a 9 mm handgun and sped away.
Officers pursued the motorist for about five or six miles before he dropped his car and fled on foot.
By this time, police officials had recognized him as Ronald J. Miller, 49, who was wanted in Edgefield County for burglary, grand theft, and malicious damage to property.
Edgefield County, North Augusta Public Safety, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division worked together to encircle Miller.
They finally apprehended Miller at 4:30 p.m., 8 1/2 hours after the incident began, following hours of tracking him about on foot.
Miller is now charged with failing to stop for a blue light, assault and battery with intent to murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, unauthorized carry of a firearm, resisting arrest, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, in addition to the outstanding warrants.
