A 40-year-old man, Seun Olakunle, has been remanded in a correctional centre by an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for breaking into a residence and stealing electrical cable valued at ₦3 million.

Presiding over the matter on Monday, June 23, Chief Magistrate B.A. Sonuga ordered Olakunle’s remand after the defendant pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing. The magistrate subsequently adjourned the case to July 17 for a review of the facts and sentencing.

According to the Prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, the offence occurred on June 19 at approximately 6 a.m. at No. 5 Aliqoda Street in the Oreyo area of Ikorodu. Isaac told the court that Olakunle unlawfully entered the premises and stole the electrical cable belonging to the complainant, Mr. Olawale Abimbola.

The prosecution stated that the offence violated Sections 307(2), 339, and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Olakunle will remain in custody until the court delivers its sentencing next month.
