
Several persons are again feared dead following suspected herdsmen coordinated attacks on Gwer West and Apa Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Benue State, June 2.
The State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, who confirmed the attacks after a security meeting at the Government house, Makurdi, said 12 people were k!lled in Apa while 11 bodies were recovered in Gwer West local council, with those badly injured currently in the hospitals.
According to a community leader, Modoom Patrick, many people are still missing while many others are displaced and are taking refuge at the primary school, where police personnel are providing security.
Meanwhile, 16 persons were also murdered following the said attacks in Edikwu and Ankpali communities of the neighbouring Apa local government area
Also confirming the attacks, the state police public relations officer, Udeme Edet, said a tactical team has been deployed to the affected areas.
Benue state has repeatedly come under attacks from suspected herders.
