An 18-year-old lesbian accused of fatally stabbing a 19-year-old man who allegedly r@ped her, remains in custody after her case was postponed to August 7 for a formal bail application at the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Friday, July 25.
Dakalo Avheani Mulaudzi has been charged with murder following the death of Shonisani Mahwasane in the early hours of Sunday in Lwamondo, Khumbe village, Limpopo.
“It is alleged [Mahwasane] was with [Mulaudzi] drinking alcohol at [his] home,” said Vhembe police spokesperson Vuledzani Dathi.
“Mahwasane [allegedly] demanded to have s3x with [Mulaudzi] though she is lesbian and said he wanted [her] to experience how it feels to have s3x with a man.
“[Mahwasane] then [allegedly] forced himself on [her], threatening her with a knife and r@ped her. [She allegedly] took the knife from [him] and stabbed him multiple times,” Dathi said.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions within the local community. While some residents are demanding justice for Mahwasane, asserting that he was not capable of such violence, others are calling for a thorough investigation, citing the ongoing concerns surrounding the safety of women and the prevalence of so-called “corrective r@pe.”
Police say the investigation is ongoing as Mulaudzi awaits her next court appearance.
