On June 21, he received word that, following a routine blood test, a carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) test had revealed an elevation above average, indicating the presence of cancer cells or a tumor.

The MBL star contacted his oncologist as soon as he learned about the results of his CEA test and was given the all-clear after receiving the information.

Mancini’s Circulating Tumor DNA test results were unfavorable two weeks after obtaining the CEA test result on July 4.

The baseman, who had battled cancer, had hits in 15 of his last 16 games, batted 299 for the month and took part in the annual MLB Home Run Derby on July 12 as part of the festivities surrounding the All-Star Game.
