One such instance was when people tried to compare her to legendary actress Liz Benson, labeling her as the “Liz Benson of Enugu.”
However, Ozokwor firmly rejected this tag, asserting that both she and Benson have their own unique identities.
Ozokwor recalled how people started recognizing her as a woman from Enugu and began calling her the “Liz Benson of Enugu.”
She politely declined this comparison, stating that she didn’t want to be like Liz Benson but rather wanted to establish herself as Patience Ozokwor, proudly representing Enugu.
Additionally, Ozokwor revealed that she also rejected suggestions to answer her husband’s first name as her surname. Instead, she chose to adopt his family name, Ozokwor, which signifies her marital connection to the Ozokwor family.
She explained that in Igbo culture, marriage extends beyond just one man; it encompasses a whole family. Therefore, she chose to bear the name Ozokwor, which echoes familiarity worldwide.
In her interview with Nwafo TV, Ozokwor emphasized her desire to maintain her individuality and not be defined solely by comparisons to others.
She believes that both she and Liz Benson have their own unique qualities and contributions to the acting industry, and she wants to be recognized for her own achievements rather than being seen as a replica of someone else.
