Nollywood veteran Iyabo Ojo has responded to Seun Kuti’s public backing of Verydarkman, a controversial social media critic who accused Ojo of receiving N65 million to pursue justice for the late Mohbad Aloba.
Ojo clarified in a message to Kuti that her disagreement with Verydarkman arose from his direct and defamatory allegations against her.
She refuted Verydarkman’s assertions by stating that she used her own funds for legal representation in Mohbad’s case and that her partner, Paulo Okoye, had advised her to drop the case earlier.
Ojo stressed that she would not have taken issue with Verydarkman had he not falsely accused her and others of accepting N65 million from individuals to seek justice for the late Marlian Music artist.
Ojo disclosed that Verydarkman later targeted her husband, Paulo Okoye, after Davido’s lavish wedding, which Iyabo Ojo reportedly did not attend.
This sequence of incidents prompted Okoye to request his connections, including Davido, Cubana Chief Priest, and Seun Kuti, to distance themselves from Verydarkman.
Ojo, in her message to Kuti, highlighted the distinction between “yarbing” (gossip) and defamation, expressing disappointment that Kuti chose to support Verydarkman despite the repeated personal attacks on her character.
