Bishop David Oyedepo has sharply criticised recent claims that there is no ongoing genocide in parts of Nigeria, questioning how such a conclusion could be made in the face of repeated violent attacks.
He referenced the recent assault on a Christ Apostolic Church congregation, expressing disbelief that anyone would downplay the severity of such incidents.

Oyedepo questions judgement of critics
The cleric accused those denying the crisis of ignoring reality and misleading the public, describing them as people attempting to distort the truth despite overwhelming evidence.
He calls on the wrath of God over lie peddlers
He stressed that such acts of misinformation are spiritually dangerous, calling for divine intervention against those he believes are intentionally deceiving Nigerians.
Oyedepo’s remarks come amid growing national outrage over renewed attacks on rural communities and religious centres, with many citizens demanding transparency, accountability, and urgent government action.
He said …
“You say there’s no genocide? So what is genocide? Do you know grammar? The case is already on that record, on genocide, and you say there’s no genocide? Are you sleeping? So what happened last week in a CAC church is that Genocide or genotype? You find a company of liars, hanging around everywhere, as if others are dummies. The Holy Ghost curses liars. Holy ghost come down and inflict curses on those lying against the truth.”

What you don’t want, you don’t watch; what you don’t resist has the right to remain; what you don’t confront, you cannot conquer.
Therefore, we decree vengeance upon every enemy of the Church, and we curse every evil perpetrator in Nigeria!#Preshiloh#Lfcliveservice#Shiloh2025 pic.twitter.com/z6EKj3tUbZ— Faith Tabernacle (@ft_canaanland) November 23, 2025
