Popular Nigerian actor, Stan Nze, has sparked conversations with his recent remarks on role interpretation in Nollywood, stressing that risking one’s life for a movie role is nothing short of “stupidity.”
In an interview with The Nation, the award-winning actor explained that while he is committed to giving his best on screen, it would be unwise to endanger his life for stunts that should ordinarily be handled by professionals.
To buttress his determination, he insisted that he would not even risk if to win an award or impress his fans.
“Why would I risk my life jumping from a dangerous height in a movie? Jumping characters are done by stunt guys. That’s their job. They are called stunt actors who are well paid for such roles. They have the experience of how to jump and do other things,” Nze said.
The Rattlesnake star emphasised that actors must draw the line between professionalism and recklessness, adding that it would be foolish to put one’s life on the line in pursuit of accolades.
“I’m not going to be foolish and jump a dangerous height just because I want to be the best actor in Africa, and then people go do one minute of silence and move on, it is stupidity. I will only do the ones I’m meant to do, so that the stunt men can do their job too,” he stated.
