A traffic hawker who touched hearts across Nigeria in 2022 by giving money to prisoners in a correctional vehicle has now graduated as a lawyer.
Ekuma Jeremiah Iziogo, popularly known as Jerry Luck, went viral three years ago when a 9-second video captured him offering cash to inmates from his roadside earnings.
The act of kindness drew widespread admiration and eventually changed the course of his life.
From hawker to law graduate
Following the viral moment, prominent businessman Obi Cubana awarded Jeremiah a scholarship to study law, a gesture that opened the door to a brighter future.
Now, in 2025, Jeremiah has completed his law degree and taken to Instagram to share his gratitude along with photos from his graduation.
In his post, he reflected on the journey:
“Today, a journey that started with little or no hope of crossing the finish line has come to an amazing end… A raw but naked hope of becoming a lawyer that I had. How the hope crashed and how I started again even in a bigger and better way through the invaluable support of the good people of Nigeria… It was five years of diverse experiences.”
A message of gratitude
Jeremiah extended heartfelt thanks to Obi Cubana and several others who supported him along the way, including @iam_hymans, @lush_eby, @winihyc, @rockyemmyphotography, Daddy Freeze, and “hundreds of others.”
“Thank you for making my dream a reality. For keeping to all your promises… I can’t appreciate your candid supports enough. A true testament of your philanthropy and services to humanity,” he wrote, signing off with hashtags celebrating his achievement, #LLB #ebsu2025.
