Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has opened up about how the death of his close friend and collaborator, Mohbad, profoundly altered his outlook on life.
Speaking during a recent livestream with TikToker Joblaq, Bella said he is currently in a phase of rediscovery, noting that the tragedy forced him to see life with greater clarity.
“RIP… I don’t want to mention names. After he passed away, my brain reset, everything changed. The way I see things in life also changed,” he said.
Reflecting further, Bella likened his current experience to lessons often shared by parents.
“There’s a time that our parents used to tell us when we misbehave, ‘Don’t worry, very soon you will understand.’ I’m currently in that phase where I’m starting to understand. I have understood certain things,” he added.
Notably, Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances, sparked widespread outrage, protests, and calls for justice across Nigeria and beyond.
Since his passing, Bella Shmurda has been vocal about his grief and has dedicated tributes to his late friend, describing him as a brother and musical partner whose death left a lasting void in his life.
