Since its inception, the internet has provided numerous benefits; yet, one of its most serious drawbacks is that anybody can upload fake content and claim it to be true. This has resulted in countless rumors of a renowned person’s death spreading over social media, only to be refuted and confirmed to be alive.
On Friday, March 20, Pittsburgh Steelers great “Mean” Joe Greene died, prompting rumors on social media. Following Chuck Norris’ death, which had been verified, many individuals sent their sympathies to both people. The sole condition was that Greene hadn’t died and was still alive.
Is Mean Joe Greene still alive?
Yes. Greene’s survival has been confirmed, despite rumours circulating on social media early on March 20.
Facebook was the starting point for the rumours, which later gained additional traction on X. Greene’s passing was announced by the account “Johnny Cadillac” on their X page, and the post received over 750k views. Instead of removing the message, the account remarked on it when it was determined that the death was untrue, claiming that they had unintentionally contributed to the rumour and were also victims of false information.

Steelers statement on ‘Mean’ Joe Greene
Regarding Greene, the Steelers did not issue an official comment. The team told TMZ and a source close to Sporting News that Greene was still alive and that the social media posts were untrue.
John McClain, a seasoned NFL reporter, also verified Greene’s survival, claiming to have had firsthand conversations with the family, who stated that Greene was not only alive but “doing great!”
