Popular Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has given detailed measurements of ingredients used in her historic attempt to cook the largest pot of jollof rice.

The historical feat, which took place on September 12, 2025, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, witnessed thousands of fans and supporters like never before.

In a fresh video shared on TikTok via her handle @hildabacion, Hilda listed the massive quantities of food items and cooking essentials that went into the Guinness World Record attempt.

Ingredient breakdown for the record pot

According to the renowned chef, the recipe included:

  1. 4,000 kg of washed basmati rice
  2. 612 kg of oil
  3. 800 kg of Gino Asun peppered chicken + party jollof
  4. 600 kg of her signature jollof pepper mix
  5. 220 kg of Gino Asun & peppered chicken cubes
  6. 20 g of Gino curry and 7 g of Gino thyme
  7. 300 kg onion, garlic & ginger blend
  8. 164 kg of fresh goat meat
  9. 1,200 kg of gas

She added that it took 9 hours of fire, passion, and teamwork to serve over 16,600 plates of jollof rice, prepared with what she described as “joy, love, and community.”

Preparations for the event

Hilda initially announced that the record attempt would take place at Muri Okunola Park, but later moved the venue to Eko Hotel and Suites. Weeks before the event, she and her team test-ran the gigantic pot to ensure readiness for the task.

On the morning of the event, she confirmed that the record-breaking pot had arrived at Eko Hotel by 4 am, signalling the final stage of preparations for the monumental cookout.

Hilda’s bold culinary quest drew massive attention, with thousands turning up to witness history. Beyond the food, the chef emphasised the symbolic value of the attempt, which she said represented teamwork, resilience, and Nigeria’s rich culinary culture.
