Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, has stirred mixed reactions online after advising young men to prioritise helping other men instead of women.
His message came during a recent preaching session that has since gone viral on social media.
Explaining his stance, Suleman said that in his experience, men who support other men are more likely to build lasting partnerships and avoid unnecessary scandals. According to him, while some women are appreciative and God-fearing, helping them often comes with risks.
Why you should help more men than women
Without mincing words, he said to his congregations:
“As a young man, let me give you some counsel; help more males than females. ‘Aah papa, are you against the females?’ No, let the females help themselves. Do you know why? When you help a man, you have a team.
“When you help a lady, wait for a scandal. Not all of them, maybe ten per cent… but most times you stand a better chance helping men like you.”
Suleman stands by his opinion
Despite anticipating a backlash, Suleman emphasised that his advice came from his personal encounters and that he was not seeking public approval.
“I know this statement is going to go somehow but I don’t care, I am speaking from my experience. This is my opinion and I am entitled to it,” he added.
Social media reactions
The statement has ignited a wave of reactions online, with some supporting the preacher’s perspective based on personal experiences, while others condemned it as unfair and dismissive toward women. Many critics argued that his comments reinforced gender stereotypes and undermined the struggles women face.
