Quinton Bird Death and Obituary: Louise Speed Second Husband Passes Away From Brain Cancer

Alan Shearer, a former Newcastle and England striker, officiated the couple’s wedding in 2021 at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, just before Christmas. Gary’s close buddy and former teammate is Shearer.

The second husband of Gary Speed’s widow Louise, Quinton Bird, died at the age of 53. Two years before his passing, the real estate developer was given a brain cancer diagnosis.

They had been partners in business for almost six years and had created Bow Property Development, a renovation company with offices in Chester.

Bird’s father, Roy, paid tribute to his son by lamenting losing him “at such a young age” and expressing his “devastation.”

He continued, calling his son a “wonderful” Father, that the entire family “had been left with a multitude of lovely and exceptional memories.”

Speed killed himself in his Cheshire home in 2011. A coroner later concluded that Speed’s suicide may not have been intentional.

According to a narrative conclusion by Cheshire coroner Nicholas Rheinberg, “the evidence does not sufficiently identify whether [his death] was purposeful or accidental.”

According to an investigation conducted by the Warrington Coroner’s Court, Speed spoke to his wife a few days before he died and “spoke in terms” of committing suicide.

There have been some very horrific occasions in which we have all had to find our own personal ways to suffer, Speed’s family said at the time.

 

More On Louise Speed First Husband’s Death

Speed made an appearance on the BBC One television show Football Focus on November 26, 2011. Dan Walker, the host of the program, remarked that Speed was “in good form.”

Also, after the program ended at one o’clock, Speed and Alan Shearer traveled to Old Trafford to watch their former team, Newcastle United, play Manchester United.

At five o’clock, Speed departed for his home in Huntington, Cheshire, which was about an hour’s drive from Old Trafford. The following morning, just before 7 am, his wife Louise found him hanging in his garage.

She contacted the ambulance service at 7:08 a.m., alerting the police as well. They acknowledged that he had died and said they were not looking into his death as suspicious.

Although the specifics were not totally verified, it was claimed that Speed had died by suicide.

A few hours later, the Football Association of Wales made Quinton Bird’s passing public. There was a Speed death inquest on November 29, 2011. The new date is January 30, 2012.
