A gunfight with a suspect who was sought for a probation violation resulted in Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntire being Killed on Monday.
In a subsequent confrontation with police in Pittsburgh’s Homewood area, the suspect was shot and killed, according to KDKA.
At the scene of the initial gunshot, Justin McIntire, the police chief of Brackenridge, was declared dead. Another police officer was shot in the leg, and it was said that he was recovering at a nearby hospital.
McIntire and the other officer were both shot during a foot pursuit, according to Fox News. According to Fox, McIntire received a headshot.
The suspect, 28-year-old Aaron Lamont Swan, was wounded in the gunfight, carjacked a vehicle, and fled, according to KDKA. The occupants of the carjacked vehicle were not hurt.

Police issued a “be on the lookout” alert for the 2014 Subaru Legacy that was stolen.
Swan was later discovered in Pittsburgh, where he lost his life in a subsequent gunfight with police. No information regarding that shootout was immediately available.
According to KDKA, McIntire worked as a patrol officer and then a sergeant before being named chief in 2018. A little town called Brackenridge is located about 20 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
