When police executed a search warrant at the Easton residence of Hussam Anjum and Kayla Deemer, they allegedly found wax paper packages, some of which may have had heroin residue on them. According to Lehigh Valley Live, police lieutenant Matthew Gerould said that syringes and heroin were found in almost all of the rooms in the house.

Anjum, 25, was watching their infant while Deemer, 31, allegedly informed police that she was taking a shower. When she realized the baby was pale and couldn’t keep their eyes open, she reportedly got out of the shower and changed their diaper.

The infant was still in the hospital as of Tuesday, according to Gerould. This lawsuit involves the Northampton County Division of Children, Youth, and Families.

Deemer is accused of endangering the welfare of minors, in addition to being in possession of a restricted narcotic and drug paraphernalia. Anjum, who is charged with the same offenses, is said to have refused to cooperate with the authorities and is thought to have left the state.

According to Lehigh Valley Live, Deemer is out on a $25,000 bail. Her court date is January 6.
