The two were reportedly sported shortly after midnight, and Franklin County Deputy Arin Bowers was called in to assist, according to state police.

However, the father pulled out a firearm and fired when Bowers attempted to speak with Guilfoyle. Bowers’ body armor was hit by the bullet, sparing him from suffering significant injuries.

Bowers fired back, striking him critically. The Indiana Department of Children’s Services took possession of the young child after determining that she was unharmed.

Officers arrived at the neighboring home of Guilfoyle’s wife after the incident and discovered Hannah Guilfoyle, age 23, shot. She was sent to the hospital in a serious state.

On Monday, both Guilfoyles were still being treated at UC Medical Center.

Two counts of attempted murder and one count of maltreatment of a dependent have been brought against Gregory Guilfoyle.

According to the sheriff’s office, Bowers was placed on administrative leave while the officer-involved shooting investigation is ongoing.
