A pregnant woman, Jamila Mohammed, and seven other residents abducted by bandits in Kaduna State have regained their freedom after spending weeks in captivity.
The victims were rescued between October 31 and November 2, 2026, in coordinated security operations involving the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force and the military.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu disclosed the development during a press conference at the DSS Command Headquarters in Kaduna on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
The CP said the operation formed part of sustained efforts to disrupt and dismantle criminal networks responsible for recurring abductions in Millennium City and surrounding communities.
The rescued victims were identified as Jamila Muhammad, 27, wife of Abdulkadir Bello; Talatu Yakubu, 40; Yunana Bawa, 30; Calista Bishop, 27; Chidinma Onuwere, 36; Eucharia Obi, 41; Godiya Victor, 50; and eight-year-old Miracle Alex.
Jamila was abducted on October 6 when bandits attacked Alrahus Estate in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area, and kidnapped her alongside Ahmad Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old daughter.
The latest breakthrough comes weeks after security agencies rescued Zakka and members of his family on October 15, 2026.
Rabiu attributed the successive successes to the determination and coordinated efforts of the participating agencies, acknowledging ONSA’s strategic coordination, the Police’s operational support, the DSS’s intelligence-driven interventions and the military’s involvement.
He also commended the Kaduna State Government, under Governor Uba Sani, for supporting the operations, describing the achievements as consistent with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening national security.
The commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible, actionable intelligence on suspected kidnappers and bandits, assuring them that such information would be treated confidentially.
He also called on traditional rulers and community leaders to support ongoing security efforts, while appealing to media organisations to avoid circulating unverified information capable of compromising operations or creating unnecessary panic.
The rescue operation underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration in addressing kidnapping and other security challenges in Kaduna State.
