Two men have been arrested in Oshodi, Lagos State, for allegedly dumping faecal waste on a road median. The suspects, identified as Sabo Ali, 50, and Ahead Adamu, 30, were reportedly caught transporting and disposing of the waste with a cart.
Lagos Waste Management Authority Managing Director Muyiwa Gbadegesin disclosed the arrests in a post on his verified X account on Friday, October 16. He said operatives of the Kick Against Indiscipline team also sealed an abandoned property allegedly used by the suspects in connection with the activity.
Gbadegesin said the operation formed part of efforts to curb illegal waste disposal and protect public spaces. “We will continue to identify and disrupt illegal dumping activities, enforce environmental laws and protect public spaces,” he wrote.
He urged residents to use authorised waste collection services and dispose of waste responsibly. “Dump responsibly. Use approved waste collection services. Help us achieve a cleaner Lagos,” he added.
