A man whose marriage ended just six months after his wedding has shared his pain.
Donna Winson took to Facebook to make the sad announcement.
He said he tried every means to make his marriage work and even got outsiders to intervene but nothing helped.
He added that he was left depressed as a result, which is why he is speaking up now.
Sharing a photo taken on his wedding day, he wrote: “It is bold to unveil the pain. I lost my marriage after only six months from the wedding day. It shattered me in ways I never imagined; pain that gnawed at my soul, depression that hollowed me out, even antidepressants didn’t help, weight loss that left me frail (low self esteem currently), emotional collapse, distress, sickness. Everything.
“As a man, I poured myself into every possible path: family engagement: silence. Church support: silence. Those I trusted to help: silence. Prayer: unanswered. Fasting: unanswered. Appeals of logic, of emotion, of ethics to my wife: unanswered. It’s sad we could not even sit to talk.
“And so I am left with one haunting question: What went wrong? Wasn’t this marriage God’s plan? Why did He allow us to wed? Could I have done right that I didn’t? Was it all a mistake? Was it about my worth after failing to find reaons for the separation?
“The burden is crushing. Even last week, I tried again. Flight back home to try mend the dying embers: the answer was still no. Now I have to drag myself on that aircraft back to work.
“It is agonizing to walk away from devotion, from vows, from covenant, without ever knowing why. Yet it was necessary. To anyone enduring this storm: it is brutal, it is traumatic, but sometimes you have no choice. With tears streaming and pieces of yourself scattered, you must keep showing up until the darkness breaks.
“To those who stand outside of it: this is not the moment to mock or dismiss. It is the moment to pray, because the enemy of love wages war against marriage.
“Pray for your unions, but above all, pray for me too as I stumble through this labyrinth of grief.
“We shall overcome. We shall rise again. Healing begins when we dare to speak, when we refuse to hide. Silence drained me; confession is the first breath of survival. I shall rise again. Feel how you want.”
