The police in Ogun State have concluded plans to arraign a 51-year-old woman, Alaba Mulika and two others before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court on charges involving alleged obstruction and serious assault of police officers performing their lawful duties.
The two other suspects were identified as Alawode Iyanu, male, 21, and Temitope Saliu, female, 29.
The incident is said to have occurred on September 29 when a police team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry at Fibigbade Street, Ago-Iwoye. While the vehicle was being conveyed to the station, a Toyota Highlander, registration number JJJ 215 JV, allegedly blocked its movement at Abobi Street.
The police say a physical confrontation allegedly followed, during which INSPR Abolarinwa Wasiu and CPL Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted.
Following the CP’s directive, detectives investigated the circumstances, visited the scene and arrested the suspects.
The spokesperson of the command, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, said the suspects will be charged on five counts bordering on conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, alleged serious assault on police officers and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
